Quick, Effective Workout Routine: Tried And Tested

I know everyone says it, but I’m a firm believer that exercise really does solve everything. No matter how stressed I am, as little as 20 minutes in the gym can make everything seem okay again. That’s the point of this post; time.

December is probably the busiest month of the year, but while a lot of people think you need to spend at least an hour working out to see the benefits, they couldn’t be more wrong.

I’ve been practicing HIIT (high intensity interval training) twice a week for the last 4-5 months and I’m a lot (and I mean, a lot) fitter and stronger than when I used to focus on cardio. It’s the quickest, most effective type of exercise, which is why I thought this time of year would be a good one to share my story. 

Try this 25 minute all over workout 3 times a week and keep a photo diary of your body as you go along. It might seem strange, but I promise you’ll see the difference – and you won’t have to sacrifice anything in your social calendar!

  • 30 Second sprint (I tend to go at 14kph speed, but beginners should start at 11-12)
  • 20 Walking lunges into kick back using 5kg Bulgarian bag as weight

  • 20 Burpees
  • 20 Squats
  • 20 Jacknife to pikes using aerobics ball

  • 1 Minute wall sit
  • 10 Box jumps

  • Repeat the whole circuit

      Hi Bob, I usually rest for 15 seconds between each exercise. Hope that helps!
